St Lucia
St Lucia is a strikingly beautiful island with secluded coves, excellent hiking and even a drive through volcano. There is a charming Creole influence around the island that nods to the bygone days of French colonial rule and a rich history of plantation homes built by the British. There are a few large hotels on the island, but St Lucia offers more in the way of smaller, romantic hotels and exclusive villa living.
Development is growing on the island and attracting big names, with golf and sailing enthusiasts the beneficiaries of such new resort developments as Raffles St Lucia and Discovery at Marigot Bay. Land is plentiful, but on an island so surrounded by nature and history there is need of careful planning in terms of eco-friendly and appropriate construction.
St Lucia is best for beaches, lively dining, golf, hiking, nature, and romance.
